Sayyid Al-Hakeem Receives Diyala Governor, Affirms Support for Local Governments, Development Potential
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received Diyala Governor Mr. Adnan Al-Shammari at His office in Baghdad on Sunday, January 18, 2026. The meeting included a comprehensive review of the governorate’s current conditions and an assessment of service delivery to residents.
H.E. emphasized the importance of empowering local governments by granting them the constitutional and legal authorities needed to improve services, stressing the need for ongoing coordination between provincial administrations and state ministries, alongside structured collaboration and knowledge exchange with experts, universities, and research institutions.
H.E. further pointed to the need to capitalize on Diyala’s agricultural, industrial, and tourism capabilities, noting that the governorate’s strategic location, proximity to several provinces, and border crossings provide strong foundations and wide opportunities for economic growth and enhanced public services.
