Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim Calls on Everyone to Concert Efforts to Serve Basra Province and its People

Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, received in his office in Baghdad, on Sunday, May 24, 2015, Khalaf Abdul Samad, the MP for the province of Basra.

His Eminence called on everyone to concert efforts to serve Basra people, stressing the importance of Basra MPs’ roles in maturating and passing projects that serve the interests of Basra citizens and compensate their families for the deprivation they suffered, highlighting that Basra is the Iraqi lung and its vital artery; thus, it’s necessary to compensate it for the environmental impacts resulting from oil extraction and to use territories, considered as oil taboo, again for agriculture, stressing the importance of integration between the provincial council and the governor to provide services to people.
