Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, indicated that Imam Khomeini (may Allah sanctify his soul) had a special and influential personality, as he built his action on his Islamic vision and succeeded in achieving a big change towards better conditions and towards reform. His eminence added that Imam Khomeini understood the situation and had an insightful vision in dealing with things; he was aware of the nature of his battle with the Shah who was the incarnation of arrogance and the policeman of the region. Sayyid Al Hakim also pointed out that Imam Khomeini acted responsibly based on his position as a leader in that nation and the first driver of change and sustainability of the reform process.
In the speech he delivered in Baghdad on Thursday, 4/6/2015, on the death anniversary of Imam Khomeini (may Allah sanctify his soul), Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim clarified that the Imam was a believer in Allah and in all divine norms, insisting that he was a strict and modest leader who combined will and politics as the former needs courage and the latter needs realism. His eminence also assured that Imam Khomeini possessed a will of steel and immense intrepidity to stop the fighting in the war waged by the regime of Saddam against him.
Furthermore, his eminence highlighted that Imam Khomeini had a character that history will never forget. He called therefore to follow his lead and pointed out that the Imam loved Iraqis just like Imam Khamenei (may Allah preserve him) who in fact inherited his love for the Iraqi people and his knowledge of all the details on the Iraqi community and character. His eminence finally underlined that Imam Khamenei is the best successor to the best predecessor; he kept the allegiance and led the Islamic Republic toward development, reconstruction and prosperity, not to mention that he ensures care to the disadvantaged and supports Palestine and the Palestinian cause.
