Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim Discusses with Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr the Developments of the Political Situation and Victories against ISIS
Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, discussed with Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadrist Movement, the security and political developments in Iraq and the region, as well as the victories achieved by the security forces and the Popular Mobilization Units, not least of which was the liberation of Ramadi from ISIS.
\r\nHis Eminence met Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr at the latter’s office in Najaf on Thursday 31/12/2015, and stressed the importance of concerted efforts of all to get Iraq out of its current crises. Besides, he called for being careful in the post-ISIS stage, stressing on the unity of Iraq and on moving forward toward defining reforms and investing time in them.
\r\n Both sides stressed the need to respect Iraq’s sovereignty and considered that the Turkish breach of Iraqi sovereignty is a clear step that does not need explanation. They also called for using all diplomatic and legal means to drive Turkish troops out of Iraq.
