    Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim discusses with United Nations’ representative the political situations and returning IDPs to their original locations in Iraq

    Chairman Supreme Islamic Council in Iraq (SICI) Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim met with United Nations’ representative Mr. Ján Kubiš at his eminence’s Baghdad office on Thursday 3, march 2016.

    His eminence discussed with Mr. Kubis political situations and anticipated reformations, indicating that the reformations is a national necessity approved by all and it is normal to have different points of views that would enrich and develop the process, stressing on backing up the reformations with solid legislations and procedures to be conducted during a specific period of time, pointing that reformations should have a competent working team capable of covering ministers and their deputies and officials of independent bodies, calling the United Nations to take their role in providing relief to IDPs and reconstruction of liberated areas and to set plans by the international organizations to handle liberation of Mosul plus supporting Iraq in encountering the threat of global terrorism.

    In respect of economic situations, his eminence stated that Iraq is facing a critical financial phase but not bankrupt, Iraq has factors of success when organizing priorities, calling to summon international experts and stimulate efforts to find alternatives for oil and stepping out from the rentier state definition.

    From Mr. Kubis side, he praised the contexts of Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim regarding reformations and security and political solutions in Iraq, describing Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim by always having sharp insights, repeating UN support to Iraq during Iraq’s security and humanitarian crisis.
