    Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim demanded the departure of the Turkish troops from Iraq, calling for concerted efforts to eradicate terrorism

    Chairman Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim demanded immediate departure of the stationed Turkish troops present on Iraqi soil, stressing that the Turkish troops status will not change by time and are forces that had forced itself in Iraqi territory in a clear violation of Iraqi sovereignty, respect of bilateral relations and good neighborliness, pointing out that the new Iraq is open to everyone and had proven in more than one occasion his eagerness to establish the best relations with its neighbors, including neighboring Turkey.

    This took place during a meeting with Turkish Ambassador to Baghdad, Mr. Farouk Qaimagja Sunday, 04/03/2016.

    His Eminence stressed the importance of concerted efforts to counter terrorism, noting that the world has become convinced today that terrorism is a worldwide trauma and not related to the political situation of any particular country, yet believing of this fact is overdue, citing bombings in Paris and Brussels and bombings that subsequently occurred recently in Turkey, expressing his regret and sadness for any drop of blood shed because of terrorism anywhere in the world.
