    Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim stresses the advancement of water resources and save Iraq water quotas

    Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim, chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, stressed the need for the advancement of the water resources and the preservation of Iraq\'s water interests in Tigris and the Euphrates rivers, through agreement with the riparian states.

    This took place during his eminence meeting with Acting Minister of Water Resources Mr. Hassan Al-Janabi, Wednesday, 08.10. 2016.

    \r\n

    His Eminence praised the efforts that resulted in registering Iraqi marshes and historical artifacts in the World Heritage list, calling for more actions to fulfill the required obligations towards international organizations, pointing to the need to pause passing legislation and the laws that govern the water resources operations and updated the related laws to commensurate with the nature of this resource and assign it to important sectors like agriculture, pointing to the need for introduction of modern mechanization and the completion of irrigation projects and lining rivers, emphasizing the necessity to stop wasting water because of outdated irrigation methods that cause water wastage and damage to agricultural lands.

    His Eminence stressed the importance of fighting corruption and handle the gaps that performs as outlets for the corrupt, indicating that it will only be achieved though targeting the deep state-based corruption networks that depends on the outdated and intersected laws.
