Head of the National Iraqi Alliance, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, described the lawsuit submitted by the Ministry of Finance to include Rafha detainees under the law of the Institution of Political Prisoners a limited understanding, recalling that the camp residents have been subjected to various forms of suffering and the camp was like a prison if not actually a prison, indicating that all National Iraqi Alliance powers voted in favor of covering the detainees by the institution above. This took place during the broadened meeting which brought together a number of detainees of Rafha camp with his eminence Monday, 20/02/2017.

His eminence urged the prosecuter ministry to stop the case against the rights of detainees of Rafha, stressing the need to reach a solution to guarantee the rights of detainees in light of the difficult economic situation, noting that residents of the camp were subjected to various kinds of harassment, but they were patient and clung to their faith, and country opened their doors to the detainees, but there are those who refused to depart for their faith in steadfastness, calling to understand the financial crisis and the problems of the government, yet valuing the sacrifices must be put in place.

His eminence urged the legal committee in the Iraqi House of Representatives and Institution of Political Prisoners to assume their responsibilities, adding that the National Iraqi Alliance will prepare a defense list to be submitted to the Federal Court if the ministry was not convinced to withdraw the lawsuit in order to keep the sacrifices of this oppressed category, expressing interest in this case and followed up by the National Iraqi Alliance, and his support for chief of Institution of Political Prisoners in this aspect, considering the detainees of Rafha an extension of the history of the people and an extension of the 1991 uprising and an essential part of the sacrifices that have contributed to change and to topple the dictatorial regime of Saddam.
