Head of the National Iraqi Alliance, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, reiterated emphasizing on the necessity of protecting women and to prevent exposing them to violence, hoping that women take their role in participating in the decision-making with the space given to women in the current political process.

His eminence stated in a speech marking the International Women\'s Day, that coincides with the birth of Fatima al-Zahra \"peace be upon her\" (the youngest daughter of the prophet Mohammad peace be upon him): “We would like to point out the enormous sacrifices made by Iraqi women, and to the injustice to their right due to policies of oppression and humiliation practiced by the previous regimes, yet we are looking forward to a new reality experienced by Iraqi woman under the current political process that granted women a wide scope of participation and decision-making.

His eminence recollected what has happened to women, experiencing harm, injustice and unfairness at the hands of terrorist gangs, stressing that \"despite all that women remained proud taking their role in raising the next generation with all pride and glory\", reminding the multiple initiatives launched by his eminence for protecting women and to prevent exposing them to violence, and to enable them in various domains, his eminence saluted all Iraqi women everywhere.
