    Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim with the Secretary General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to discuss oil prices and renewal of the agreement on reduction of production

    Head of the National Iraqi Alliance, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, with OPEC Secretary-General Mohammed Barkando discussed the oil prices and the possibility of renewing the agreement to cut production to support prices, his eminence stressed on the importance of paying attention to Iraq\'s economy and the challenge of terrorism and war expenses.

    His eminence indicated that Iraq was and still a supporter of stabilizing oil prices and committed to reduce production to support prices for the benefit of all, indicating the importance that OPEC regain its strength in the oil market and continue to coordinate with OPEC members oil producers or with producers from outside the organization, because it is not reasonable that OPEC alone bear the responsibility to rebalance oil prices, pointing the necessity of working to restore prices to a level of which enables countries to maintain their economic status, mentioning Iraq\'s oil status and exploration and new figures for its reserves of Oil.

    in respect of economic, his eminence indicated that the current government is working to stimulate economy through diversification and disposal of the rentier state status, but these steps need time to be realized, noting that these solutions require keeping Iraq\'s rights in the oil market.
