    Meeting Sisi… Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim calls for strategic alliance between Iraq and Egypt on the political, economic levels and the fight against terrorism

    During the National Iraqi Alliance delegation visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Head of the National Alliance , Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, met with President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Tuesday 18/4/2017. His eminence called for a strategic alliance between Iraq and Egypt in the political, economic, security and counterterrorism domains, indicating that this alliance will crown the historical roles and the position of the two countries at Arab and regional levels, pointing out to the common challenges between Cairo and Baghdad.

    His eminence in his meeting with Sisi stressed that Iraq has five priorities represented by Iraq\'s unity, Arabism, sovereignty, democracy and the consolidation of the state of citizenship, pointing to the importance of Iraq\'s unity not only for the Iraqis, but for the region and its national security as well. Going to a choice other than the unity of Iraq will have repercussions throughout the entire region because of the impact of Iraq on all spaces.

    His eminence explained the importance of the national settlement as the sole option after clearing Daesh, affirming that the national settlement is a result of vision and challenges that were recognized and summarized in a specific project, the project can be adjusted and it is supported by the United Nations. His eminence called on the countries of the region, including Egypt, to support any course of settlement in Iraq, regardless of whether it is a national solution or a solution to the conflict plus the importance of resettling the displaced families and reconstructing of the liberated cities.

    Regionally, the visions of Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim and Sisi corresponded to the importance of a political solution in Syria and Yemen and refusal of foreign interference, additionally both sides agreed on the importance of the Saudi-Iranian dialogue as an portal for a comprehensive regional settlement.

    President al-Sisi expressed his support for Iraq in the face of terrorism and the national settlement project as a vision of the post-Daesh phase, praising the victories achieved by the Iraqis on the terrorist Daesh.
