    Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim calls to appoint political prisoners in high level positions and involve them in the process of maintaining order

    Marking the Day of Iraqi Prisoner, and for their great role in toppling dictatorship, head of the National Iraqi Alliance, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim called to make political prisoners part of decision making and appoint them to high level positions, plus the need to perpetuate their stories and steadfastness in the face of the tyrants and to introduce their stories to future generations Sunday, April 30, 2017.

    His eminence, in a speech in a ceremony held by the Political Prisoners Foundation marking the Political Prisoner Day in Baghdad, praised the sacrifices made by this group in order to bring down the Saddam regime, stressing that these sacrifices exposed and isolated Saddam regime from the countries of the world that motivated International forces to topple the regime.

    Head of the National Iraqi Alliance urged the need to bring political prisoners closer to decision makers and appoint them in high level positions, warned of abbreviating the just cause of the prisoners in a political project, and asked the political prisoners to refuse make their cause recognized by a political side, but they should make their cause a homeland wide issue.

    His eminence called start a museum to commemorate the tragedy of the political prisoners and document the stories of victims and present it to new generations, stressed the importance of forming a civil society organization managed by prisoners and registered in United Nations to participate in international forums to spread awareness on injustice that Iraqi people had faced by the tyrant.

    His eminence also called to hold an extended conference between prisoners’ foundation and the political prisoners themselves to find out their suffering and their requirements, and make them part in the decisions that concern them, stressed the need to apply the foundation’s law that is enacted by the Iraqi House of Representatives, and urged to pay attention to sons of political prisoners and provide employment for them considering they are and extension of this line of these freedom fighters.

    The head of the National Iraqi Alliance stated that the best of those who defend the new democratic system and contribute to its protection is the one who greatly contributed to its founding, the political prisoners group.
