    Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim with the French ambassador to discuss a post-Daesh and counter-extremism

    Head of the National Iraqi Alliance, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, in his office in Baghdad, received the Ambassador of France to Baghdad Mr. Mark Barreti Sunday 21/5/2017.

    \r\n

    His eminence with the French Ambassador discussed bilateral relations between Paris and Baghdad and means of enhancing relations on the political, economic and developmental levels, stressing that the new Iraq is an open Iraq to all, and seeks to foster its interests in a way that preserves its rights and sovereignty.

    \r\n

    His eminence stated that Iraq is close to announce military victory over Daesh, pointing out that military treatment is important, but it is incomplete only if it is accompanied by security, political, economic, social and developmental resolutions, and pointed out that supportive solutions is not only the responsibility of Iraqi government, but the responsibility of the Iraqi state, the international community and the United Nations as well. The reconstruction of liberated areas and resettlement of displaced families is the most important conditions for the eliminating terrorism and thus immunize Iraq and the world from terrorist Daesh.

    Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim stressed the importance of learning from mistakes when dealing with the former terrorist groups which solely focusing on military effort, urging the international community to devote time to eliminate terrorism in Iraq as terrorism took the cities of Iraq as a stage for its alleged caliphate. Without eradicating terrorism in Iraq, the world and Europe will suffer from terrorism using unexpected tools as they have done in more than one place.

    His eminence, congratulated France\'s success in the presidential election and the arrival of President Macaron to the Elysee Palace, stressed that the national settlement project was born from the depth of present time challenges and anticipating future challenges therefore it requires the support of all.
