Head of the National Iraqi Alliance, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, in his office in Baghdad received Belgian parliament delegation led by Filip Dewinter and discussed bilateral relations between Iraq and the European Union Wednesday 20/9/2017.

His eminence stressed that Iraq today is different from the previous phases. Today, Iraq has a democratic experience and a people that enjoy full freedom more than any country in the region, and defeated Daesh terrorism that other countries spent decades facing it. His eminence indicated that terrorism is a global threat and will not stop at a certain border, called to join forces to eliminate the security challenge as efforts had led to eliminate terrorism military challenge.

Regarding the unity of Iraq, his eminence stressed that the unity of Iraq is an undividable neither negotiable title and is an interest for everyone, pointed out that any meddling to the unity of Iraq will have repercussions on the region and the world. Iraq is an exceptional country and is located in the most complex regions. His eminence called on the world countries to support Iraq on this aspect and to assist to calm the situation in order to engage in a serious, in depth and comprehensive dialogue under the umbrella of the Iraqi constitution, appreciated the positions of countries supporting the unity of Iraq and urged the countries that have taken silence say their word on the unity of Iraq to revise their positions because the interest of everyone is linked to the unity of Iraq.
