The Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim, stressed on supporting security forces in their battle against terrorism and wished that they perform their duties as perfect as can be. He called upon them to be careful and to distinguish terrorists from peaceful citizens. This came in a statement issued by His Eminence regarding the latest developments in Anbar Province, on Tuesday, 24/12/2013.
His Eminence explained that the acts of terrorist groups (Islamic State in Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS)) against security forces, Shias and others, in parallel with the Arba’een visit are clear proof of their animosity towards Ahl Al Bayt and their followers, expressing his regret for the martyrdom of the 7th regiment leader Brigadier Mohamed Al Kurawi and some officers.
His Eminence commended the cooperation shown by the citizens and tribes of Anbar towards security forces in countering terrorism, and prayed the Almighty to have mercy on the martyrs, heal the injured, end the deceit of enemies and terrorists and preserve Iraq and Iraqis.
Below the text of the statement:
In the Name of Allah the Most Merciful the Most Gracious,
It is no secret to honorable citizens that the confrontations and killings currently happening between our security forces and terrorists who are using the western region of Iraq as a base to conduct their terrorist attacks against our innocent citizens and our heroic security forces. The killings and bombings performed by the terrorist group known as ISIS, during these particular days, the days of the Arba’een visit for Imam Hussein (AS), are clear proof of its animosity towards Ahl Al Bayt and their followers in Iraq and all over the world. Their hostile aggression has caused the death of many Shias and others. We were saddened by the martyrdom of the 7th regiment leader Brigadier Mohamed Al Kurawi and his companion officers while performing their national duty in pursuing terrorist groups last Saturday. We support our security forces while they fight the battle against that cruel band. We ensure that they fully perform their national duty, and we call upon them to be careful in distinguishing real terrorists from peaceful citizens. We shall not also forget to commend the cooperation shown by our citizens in Anbar towards the army and security forces in helping them pursue these criminal gangs. We pray the Almighty to have mercy on the martyrs, heal the injured, end the deceit of these criminal bands and preserve Iraq and Iraqis from the ploy of conspirators.
Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim
Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq
