Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, Head of the Iraqi Islamic Supreme Council, demanded the security services to intensify their efforts and review their plans for ensuring the safety of the pilgrims going to holy Kerbala city.
This came up when His Holiness on Saturday, January 7, 2011 visited families of those who were martyred or wounded in the terrorist attack that took place in the Bathaa area, Nasiriyya governorate, this past Thursday which targeted a convoy of pilgrims going to Kerbala governorate for the Arba’een Ziyara of Imam al-Hussain (peace with him). His Holiness offered condolences to the martyrs’ families when he visited mourning commemorative ceremonies held in their honor. His Holiness also inspected the conditions of those who were wounded in that criminal attack and who now are being hospitalized at the governorate’s al-Hussain Educational Hospital.
