Head of the Al-Hikma National Movement, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, expressed his belief that the democratic system represents an advanced style of governance and running countries, and is the main motive on which values related to freedom, respect for human rights and the principle of holding regular universal suffrage elections are formed, plus ensuring freedom of speech and achieving sustainable development. And marking the International Day of Democracy, his eminence indicated that these elements need to be available so that regimes claiming democracy can provide natural environment necessary to protect humans' rights, well-being and prosperity.
His eminence stressed that Iraq, despite its young experience and political, security and economic challenges experienced by it, is determined, by the will of its citizens, to move forward with the democratic path that was adopted, pointed out that this choice comes after years of despotic dictatorship.
