Sayyid Al-Hakeem Receives Haibat Al-Halbousi, Stresses Legislative Priority, Constitutional Commitments
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received the Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Haibat Al-Halbousi, along with several members of Parliament from the Taqaddum bloc, at His Baghdad office on Sunday evening, 11 January 2026. The meeting reviewed developments in Iraq’s political scene, upcoming entitlements, and the role of Parliament in oversight and legislation.
His Eminence called for focusing on legislative priorities and addressing issues that directly touch citizens’ concerns and the broader national interest, underscoring the importance of rigorous oversight of government institutions without exception.
H.E. renewed emphasis on adhering to constitutional timelines for the remaining entitlements—namely electing the President of the Republic and tasking the nominee of the largest bloc with forming the government—explaining that cohesion among components leads to national cohesion. H.E. urged all parties to shoulder responsibilities toward the current phase, its challenges, and its priorities.
