Sayyid Al-Hakeem Receives Australian Ambassador, Reviews Bilateral Relations, Political, Economic Developments
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received the Australian Ambassador to Iraq, His Excellency Mr. Glenn Miles, to His office in Baghdad on Sunday evening, January 18, 2026. The meeting reviewed key developments across Iraq and the region, while also addressing bilateral relations and avenues for strengthening cooperation in ways that benefit both countries and their friendly peoples.
H.E. noted that Iraq has accumulated a series of positive achievements and realized important security, social, and political gains that have contributed to the current state of stability, underscoring the need to respect constitutional timelines for completing the selection of remaining presidencies and forming the government.
H.E. also highlighted the economic challenge facing Iraq in diversifying income sources and moving beyond dependence on oil price fluctuations, affirming that the country possesses the capacity to confront and overcome this challenge, as it has successfully done with previous ones.
