    Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim says, “Baghdad is dear to our hearts, and it is the centerpiece in the plan to build the state.”

    Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI), has stressed that the general path for the plan to serve the homeland and the citizen before Allah and the people is to stand and support those who serve the citizens, adding, “Baghdad is dear to us, and it is the centerpiece in the plan to build the [Iraqi] state.”
    This came up when His Eminence welcomed on Monday, December 3, 2012, Sayyid Muhammed Jasim al-Rubay`i, candidate of the Supreme Council for the post of Mayor of Baghdad for the coming term.
    His Eminence stressed that Baghdadis deserve a lot, explaining that he stands on their side and supports them in removing the obstacles and providing the necessary services for them, calling on the political forces to support and back the Supreme Council’s candidate for this post, hoping for a speedy endorsement of this candidacy by the Council of Ministers, regarding this subject as a step in the right direction.
    The head of the Supreme Council stressed his support for the new candidate so long as it serves the citizens, drawing attention to the Supreme Council being the first to hold him to account if he is derelict in his duties and responsibilities, explaining that Baghdad is a modern city which is beautiful in the good spirits of its citizens and civilization in history.
    On his part, the candidate of the Supreme Council for the post of Mayor of Baghdad, Mr. Muhammed al-Rubay`i, stressed the existence of daily field plans that rely on speed in executing projects and in presence on the field, in addition to the medium term plans to complete the existing projects plus the long term strategic plans that concern the projects which solve the infrastructure problems.
