Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim stresses the strengthening of the relationship between Iraq and the United States within the Strategic Framework Agreement

Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI), stressed the importance of strengthening the relationship between Iraq and the United States of America in various fields within the Strategic Framework Agreement which is signed by both countries. This took place when His Eminence received at his office Robert Stephen Beecroft, U.S. Ambassador to Baghdad, on Sunday, December 23, 2012. Both sides discussed a number of issues of common interest.
On his part, Beecroft praised the great role played by the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq in bringing the political blocs together in the shade of the crisis the country now lives, expressing his hope on the good relationship which connects the head of the Supreme Council with the political blocs, personalities and leaderships in the country.
It must be pointed out that both countries signed at the end of last year two agreements. The first was the agreement to withdraw the American forces which contained schedules ending in the year 2011 to withdraw all American forces from Iraq which was called the security agreement, whereas the other was called the Strategic Framework Agreement which will enable Iraq to sign bilateral agreements to develop the level of services in it as well as that of the information technology.
