Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI), stressed Iraq’s need for the message of peace and toleration which was launched by Christ (Ú) and for whose sake he sacrificed. His Eminence stressed that toleration is a path from which we can set out to treat many problems from which our Iraqi reality suffers.
This came up when His Eminence attended a mass for the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ (Ú) at the Mar Joseph Church in Karrada on Monday, December 24, 2012.
The head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq explained that the Christians in Iraq are not valued through their number; rather, the Christians in Iraq in particular and in the Orient in general form a quantum component with whom we are gathered under Iraq’s tent, and with whom we share our love for the homeland. He pointed out to the necessity of facing the challenges in building the homeland and the society.
is Eminence pointed out that the birth of Christ (Ú) coincides with the Arba`een (the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam al-Hussain (Ú)), explaining that the Message plans are one in their essence though they vary in their labels and forms, further explaining that the Virgin Lady Maryam (Mary) (Ú) adopted the supportive stance for the message of Christ, peace with him, while the human huri Zainab (Ú) had an educational role, one of explaining and defending the Hussaini issue, stressing that Christ is a great man who left his prints on history and provided lessons in outgiving for the sake of building man and society. His mission set out from the time when he was a suckling baby which is the message of peace. He is a role model for all humanity. His Eminence drew attention to the disciples of Christ (Ú) having a great role in promoting his message (Ú)
