During his reception for the parliament’s speaker, Usamah al-Nujaifi, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim stresses the importance of national unity and cohesion on the public and political level

Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI), has stressed the importance of the national unity and of cohesion on the public and political level, emphasizing the necessity of sending letters comforting the people of Iraq. He pointed out to the necessity for the political process to be supported by everyone, explaining that the constitution is the foundation of the New Iraq, and it cannot be amended except through the constitutional mechanisms which the constitution itself had set. This came up when His Eminence met the speaker of the Iraqi parliament, Usmah al-Nujaifi, and the delegation accompanying him at his Baghdad office on Monday, February 25, 2013.
His Eminence stressed the necessity of getting ready for the elections in positive atmospheres so the electoral process may be able to express the Iraqi voter’s real will, pointing out to the necessity of ratifying the laws or amending them in order to help address the protesters’ demands, be they in the southern or the western governorates, emphasizing that the legitimate demands, wherever they may be, are welcome and supported.
On his part, Mr. al-Nujaifi praised the role played by Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim and the rest of patriotic forces in solving the political crises, expressing his support for the calls of Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim for communication and for working on commonalities among the Iraqi people, emphasizing respect for the constitution and adherence to the political process, rejecting calls to undermine it and regarding it as the most important place and the best to resolve problems. He drew attention to the need to send letters to the Iraqi people to comfort them, that they comprise one nation capable of solving their problems domestically and expressing his hope that the patriotic language is the one that prevails.
