During a visit to the head of the Islamic Supreme Council in the latter's office in Baghdad Thursday, 13/6/2013, Mr. Georges Posten, the deputy secretary-general of the United Nations, has praised the moderate and balanced positions and visions of Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, welcoming the principle of partnership and dialogue the Supreme Council adopts.
The UN official has also acclaimed Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim's initiative to hold a meeting of political leaders, considering it as an opportunity to create the right environment to prepare the ground for dialogue and resolve the conflicts between the different parties.
For his part, his Eminence has explained the political situation in the country and the need to invest in the opportunities in order to achieve the practical steps that reassure all parties in the political arena. He also thanked the United Nations for its role and efforts in bringing the viewpoints of the different Iraqi political forces closer.
