U.S. Senator John McCain expressed his admiration for the role that Sayyid Ammar El Hakim is playing in bringing the viewpoints of all Iraqi political stakeholders closer together and in finding solutions to the existing problems, that in addition to his valuable role in enhancing Iraq’s relations with its regional and international surrounding, thus contributing to the establishment of security and stability. 
The Senator had shared his opinion during a visit paid by a delegation from the U.S. congress headed by former U.S. presidency candidate John McCain to the Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim, on Sunday, June 30th, 2013.
During the meeting, attendees discussed the situation in Iraq and the region. Senator McCain affirmed that the U.S. congress is still concerned about the Iraqi issue and that Washington supports the democratic process and fight against terrorism, especially now that Iraq has been removed from Chapter VII.
