Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, received in his office in Baghdad, Sunday, 7/7/2013, the Canadian Ambassador in Baghdad, Mark Gwozdecky. During the meeting, both sides discussed the developments of the relations between both countries on the political, commercial and cultural levels. His Eminence said the new Iraq is open to everybody and seeks to build closer relations with all of the world's countries.  
For his part, the Canadian Ambassador praised Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim's efforts to put an end to the political crisis in Iraq as well as those the region is facing, reiterating that he agrees with Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim in that dialogue is the ultimate solution for the problems. He also congratulated his Eminence for Iraq being free from chapter 7 and the international tutelage.
