In the 12th Ramadan night event, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim: The Wisdom of Imam Al-Hassan (AS) Turned the Military Defeat into a Political and Moral Victory

Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim said the five conditions Imam Al-Hassan Al-Mujtaba (AS) imposed for the truce created between his army and that of the Levant was the main cause behind and the onset of the fall of the Umayyad rule thanks to the Imam’s wisdom and intelligence. He added that these conditions denied the unjust ruler Muawiyah his legitimacy as well as that of his project and his successors. He maintained that Imam Al Hassan Al Mujtaba (AS) turned the defeat of his army on the battlefield into a political and moral victory, saying no victory can be achieved even under a leader as great as Imam Ali or Imam Al Hassan Al Mujtaba (PBUT) if people don’t adhere to him and fight under his banner, not to mention decisiveness, willingness to sacrifice, confront and abandon luxury.

Moreover, Sayyid al-Hakim talked about the adherence to positions without doing justice and serving people, of which Imam Al Hassan (AS) said while describing Muawiyah “he canceled the divine rules and took the worldly life as his father and mother”. He also pointed to the period following the truce which clearly showed the illegality of the Umayyad rule and project which underestimated the consequences and responsibilities of positions, and prepared the ground for new powers that later joined the message project of Imam Al Hassan and Imam Ali (PBUT) before, to stand up with Imam Hussein (AS) and his successors.
Sayyid al-Hakim explained that the caliphate who rules by injustice, sway and sword will face the same destiny as Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan, will never be remembered and will lose his standing for ever, comparing between the Imam Al Hassan Al Mujtaba’s standing among Muslims and non-Muslims and Muawiyah.
