Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, said since the outbreak of the conflict between the Palestinians and the Zionist enemy until this moment, the religious marjas have been backing and supporting the Palestinian people, and condemning and denouncing the Zionist entity and its malign plans which target the Islamic identity of the Palestinian citizens. “The conflict in Palestine is about the identity which they are trying to conceal, exclude and eliminate”, he confirmed, adding that the Palestinian cause is the No. 1 issue which concerns all Muslims notwithstanding their bitter personal issues.
This came during the 19th Ramadan night event held in his Eminence’s office in Baghdad, Thursday, 1/8/2013.
Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim evoked the attitudes of several great Marjas concerning the Palestinian cause and the misery of the Palestinians, pointing out to those of Imam Muhsin al-Hakim who showed his support for the Palestinians, including sending many scholars and figures to the different Islamic countries to discuss the Palestinian cause, issuing a fatwa requiring the payment of Zakats to the Palestinian Fedayeen, allowing, yet ordering, the military action against the Zionist entity under the available required conditions, as well as him sending for the Ambassador of Iran, the Shah, to protest against the opening of an embassy for the Zionist entity in Tehran.
His Eminence also praised the decision of the late Imam Khomeini who called for making the last friday of the month of Ramadan an international Quds day in order to commemorate the Palestinian cause. Moreover, he stated that for more than three decades now, the Palestinian cause has been the main issue introduced in Iran’s foreign policy given the effect the Islamic Republic has in the Islamic world in general.
