Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq maintained that the imamate of Imam Sadiq (AS) witnessed big political developments and an important breakthrough in terms of doctrines, fiqh and hadith, explaining that this period of the Islamic history in general and Iraq's history in particular needs careful steps to treat these phenomena and study their future effects of Muslims life. He also called on the researchers to give attention to this period and making it a part of their research and investigation since this would be a big favor to the history, Islam and the society. His Eminence said the Imam (AS) used to perform the responsibilities he fixed for himself, and kept himself away from any direct political intervention in the conflict, yet he was attacked by the whistle-blowers during the rule of the Abbasside state. He continued that Imam Sadiq (AS) gave particular attention to some of the speakers form Ahl-al-Bayt (AS) school, since he would ensure that his followers were eloquent and able to convince and confront the enemies in terms of the problems they raise.
This came in a speech of his Eminence delivered on his behalf by his Eminence Sheikh arhan Saedi during the conference of Imam Jaafar Sadiq (AS) held in Missan University Monday, 2/9/2013.
His Eminence noted the life years of Imam Sadiq (AS) were marked by changes on the political and intellectual levels in Hejaz, Iraq, the Levant and all the Islamic work, not to mention that his imamate years were characterized by the political and intellectual changes and developments in the Islamic world.
