Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, emphasized the necessity of an Iraqi national unity against the challenges facing Iraq and the region, stressing the need to maintain security and preserve the Iraqi blood. 
This came during a meeting held between his Eminence in his office in Baghdad and the head of the Iraqi National List, Ayad Allawi, and the accompanying delegation, Saturday, 7/9/2013. 
Both sides discussed the developments of the political process in Iraq, as well as those of the Syrian issue, while his Eminence renewed his appeal for dialogue as solution for the Syrian crisis and for taking part in Geneva conference. He also warned against the risk of war in the region.
