In the First Night of the Month of Muharram, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim Says, Husseini Assemblies Are One of the Most Important Ashura Symbols Established by Ahl-al-Bayt (AS)

Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, said the Husseini assemblies are one of the most important symbols established by Ahl-al-Bayt and followed by us today, considering them as confirmation of what Allah says in the Quran, “And whoever honors the symbols of Allah- indeed, it is from the piety of hearts”. This came in a speech delivered by his Eminence in the first night of the Month of Muharram during a mourning assembly held by his Eminence in Baghdad, Tuesday, November 5, 2013. His Eminence added that Hussein symbolizes the revenge of Allah, and this is an honoring of the symbols of Allah the Almighty. He said, “if we go back in time, we notice that the first mourning assembly for Hussein (AS) was that held by Zayn al-Abidin Ali Ibn al Hussein (PBUH) in Syria in the vicinity of the Palace of Yazid Ibn Muawiya when the women who were left without husbands entered to Syria while Yazid was boasting and treating them as the Khawarij did”.
The head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq underlined the role of the mourning assemblies on the social, cultural, political and religious levels, considering the declarations and threats launched by the terrorist and takfiri fanatic groups to prevent such assemblies from being held and distort their image as reflecting the despair and weakness of such groups. He explained that the lovers and followers of Ahl-al-Bayt got used to such declarations which will only make them more adherent to Hussein (AS), his course, his school and the goal for which the Master of Martyrs (AS) died.
