Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, maintained that the choices of people in the next elections are the way of change towards the service of the citizens and the country, underlying the importance of honest competition in the next elections and calling for using reasonable means away from fraud. This came during a meeting between Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim and Mr. Nikolay Mladenov, the United Nations Secretary General Special Representative for Iraq, in his office in Baghdad on Saturday, December 14, 2013.
 
For his part, Mladenov stressed the willingness of the international organization to provide assistance to all political parties to reinforce the democratic regime, explaining that the United Nations tries to help the Iraqi people overcome the obstacles it is facing while building its new democratic political project.
