    In his Meeting with the US Ambassador, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim Reiterates his Support of Iraqi Security Forces and Stresses the Need to Hold Elections on Time

    Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, reiterated his support of the Iraqi security forces in their chase after the terrorist gangs of Daesh, praising the collaboration of al-Anbar tribes with the army and the police and their assistance in the pursuit of those criminal gangs, while stressing the need to hold elections on time.
    This came during a meeting held on Monday, 30/12/2013, between his Eminence, in his office in Baghdad, and the US ambassador to Iraq, Steven Beecroft.
    For his part, the US ambassador reiterated his country’s support of Iraq in its war against terrorism, saying he is concerned about the situation in Iraq and emphasizing the importance that the military operations are undertaken by the Iraqi forces in favor of the national interest, not the political interests. He also made known his country’s confirmation on the necessity of holding the Iraqi elections on time.
