Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, stressed the need to support Iraq in its fight against terrorism, indicating that the wide and conscious participation of Iraqis in the last parliamentary elections illustrate the Iraqis’ eagerness to support the democratic process and ensure security and stability in the country.
This came when his eminence received Mr. Brett McGurk, the deputy assistant secretary of State, accompanied by the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, Steven Beecroft, at his eminence’s office in Baghdad, on Monday, May 12, 2014.
For his part, the U.S. official praised the latest elections in Iraq, reiterating his country’s attention to support Iraq along its democratic journey and war against terrorism.
Were also discussed during the meeting the prospects of bilateral relations and collaboration between the two countries.
