Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim: the Political Majority Does not Produce a Strong Government and a Strong, Harmonious Team with Well-Defined Project and Vision Is our Only Choice

Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, said the political majority does not produce a strong government and it is very difficult to achieve a majority which is unable to provide welfare and services to the Iraqi citizens, reminding that given the complicated Iraqi reality, all parties have no other choice but to form a strong, harmonious team with well-defined project and vision. He stated that whoever disregards such reality will feel that they have taken the wrong way and wasted time, calling the powerful partners representing their components to engage in a constructive honest dialogue. He also stressed that it is the dialogue between the powerful partners that gives rise to a government that reassures the Iraqis. For him, it is important to make two steps: first to form, strengthen and institutionalize the national alliance and to turn it into a shelter for the powers which constitute it, and to watch over the officials run by it; second to build relations with the national powers, to promote the trust and to take their concerns into consideration. On the other hand, he warned that the negligence of these fundamentals will make drag out the formation of the government and widen the gap between the powers, underlining the need to set the best example for the people and the world and to make the after-elections stage not less important than that of the election stage itself.
This came during the ceremony on the occasion of the births of the pure imams in his Eminence's office in Baghdad on Wednesday, June 4, 2014.
