Calling to Turn the Misfortune into an Opportunity for Coexistence, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim: No for the Military Coups d’état and the Imposition of the Will by Force of Arms and Fire

Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, said a united Iraq is our choice; brotherhood, coexistence and tolerance are our course and our goal is to spread justice and equality and reassure everybody, calling for not neglecting the project or the nation and not giving up the democratic process, while maintaining that the imposition of the will by force of arms and fire is something unacceptable. Moreover, he said he is against any coups d’état and accusation of disloyalty and the democratic means are the solution to achieve the goals. He also stated that he would never abandon the legitimate rights, the responsible, honest dialogue and the real partnership in the management and decision-making through a harmonious team who works with one single vision.
This came during the 26th conference of the male and female messengers held by the Martyr of the Niche foundation in Najaf on Thursday, June 19, 2014.

Respect of the Iraqi Reality and Sovereignty
His Eminence asserted that the Iraqis wish all the good for the neighboring Islamic and Arab countries and deal with them based on the respect of the Iraqi reality and sovereignty, warning that there would be no tolerance with any move that exceeds these fundamentals and harms the sovereignty and the brotherly relation between Iraq and the neighboring countries.

The Religious Authority Will Remain a Safety Valve in Dangerous Turning Points
Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim lauded the heroic position and sacrifice for the sake of the country and holy places manifested by the Iraqi people and tribes, as an answer to the call of the high religious authority represented by Imam Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Al Sistani (May Allah preserve him). His eminence explained that this reflects the Iraqis’ commitment and obedience to the authority’s approach and their high sense of national and religious responsibility. He reiterated that the authority will remain a security valve in dangerous turning points, expressing his regret that the authority’s fatwa on defending the country was considered a sectarian call. His eminence also added that the authority has always supported, protected and defended all Iraqis and their legitimate rights and demands.

    Supporting the Armed Forces
His eminence highlighted his support to the armed forces in their performance of their national duties, praising the bold position taken by many military leaderships and officers who stood up and faced the recent terrorist attack in the country. Sayyid Al Hakim indicated that their defense of the country affirms their patriotic sense and feeling of responsibility, stressing the need to hold weak officers accountable and inflict the harshest sanctions on these treacherous leaderships who sold the country and renounced the honor of service.

Praising Pride Tribes in Hot Zones
Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim commended the national heroic stance taken by the tribes of Mosul, Anbar, Diyala and Saladin in defending the honor and dignity of Iraqis, as this expresses the cohesion and unity of Iraqis of all components and political affiliations. His eminence underlined that this ordeal will become a phase for coexistence, harmony and zeal to protect the national project and the country, assuring that all Iraqis are fighting against Daesh, al Qaeda and their supporters. He also stressed the need to stick together and fix the mistakes at the political, security, social and service levels.

Formation of a Government that Has a Wide National Acceptance
His eminence called the Iraqi political forces to commit to the constitutional terms and to form a government that has a wide national acceptance. He added that the federal court’s ratification of the election results paves the way to form the government within defined timelines, stressing the importance of the political agreement to solve and end the security crisis.

    Helping the Displaced
Furthermore, his eminence called on the government, civil society organizations, and well-offs to assume their national and religious responsibility of helping and reducing the burden of displaced persons coming from the hot zones in Mosul and Tal Afar and from the regions of Shabak, Turkmen and others.
