Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, said the world countries must offer direct and indirect support to Iraq in its war against terrorism and against the extremist terrorist organizations which constitute a threat to the world peace and security, adding that the Iraqis agree and insist on countering such groups as well as on quickly forming an Iraqi government that represents all the segments of the Iraqi society and its communities.
This came in a meeting held between his Eminence, at his office in Baghdad on Saturday, August 31, 2014, and Mr. Jorgen Lindstrom, the Swedish ambassador to Iraq.
His Eminence said there will be an announcement of the new ministerial portfolio in the coming few days before the expiry of the constitutional deadline so as to answer the demands of the supreme authority in the country, for the Iraqis want to quickly form the government and address all the issues in the next stage. For his part, Mr. Jorgen said his country is willing to reinforce the relationships between both friend countries and to support Iraq and its people in these hard conditions.
