Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, called on to form a strong front against the extremist and takfiri minds represented in the ISIS which seeks to sow division by creating sectarian and religious conflicts, and to fight this group in every possible way and in all circumstances. This came during a meeting held between his Eminence and the Union of Muslim Scholars in Erbil on Monday, September 22, 2014. His Eminence pointed out to the important role the Muslim scholars play in the street in this regard, noting that this terrorist organization spares no sect, race or component from its criminal activities.
Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim also commended the role and efforts of the scholars and sheikhs in reinforcing the national unity and easing the tension to prevent the extremist and takfiri minds from achieving their goal, which is a divided national unity, like Sheikh Abdallah Said, head of the Union of Muslim Scholars in Erbil and a number of scholars. For his part, Sheikh Said evaluated the visit of his Eminence to the Union, for, according to him, this makes the national unity between the same citizens stronger and definite, recalling the role of al-Hakim family in strengthening the deep relations between Arabs and Kurds.
