Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, emphasized the importance of resolving the problems of the southern provinces and of mitigating their suffering, particularly those of Basra which is considered as the lung of Iraq, not to mention the importance of paying to the oil-producing provinces their respective shares of the petrodollars.
This came in a phone call made by his Eminence to the Prime Minister, Mr. Haider al-Abadi, following the latter’s visit to Belgium and France where he led the Iraqi delegation in the meetings of the international coalition for supporting Iraq on Sunday, December 12, 2014.
His Eminence underlined the importance of the international coalition and its support for Iraq against the ISIS, calling for investing in the positive results of the agreement between the federal government and the government of the Region of Kurdistan in terms of oil in order to make a progress with respect to the resolution of all the pending issues, and for enhancing the foreign relations of Iraq at international and regional levels and with the neighboring countries.
