Calling for Legislating the National Guard Law, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim Maintains that the Strength of the Component and its Interior Harmony Is the Key to the National Coherence
Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, called for legislating the national guard law since it is the legal framework of the action of the popular crowd and the Iraqi tribes, saying the trust in the political process and the agreement on the unity of Iraq and the partnership between the components and the wide front in facing the ISIS are important messages conveyed by lately-held Erbil conference. He also maintained that Mr. al-Nujaifi explained to his Eminence the conference’s national orientations, adding that the strength of the component and its interior harmony is the key to the national coherence and leads to a strong country with strong and coherent components.
This came in a meeting held between his Eminence at his office in Baghdad on Saturday, December 20, 2014 and the vice-president of Iraq, Mr. Usama al-Nujaifi.
His Eminence said he discussed with al-Nujaifi the security situation and the victories achieved by the security forces and the Peshmerga. They also discussed the role of the tribes in facing the ISIS and the Iraqi openness to the Arab, international and regional surrounding.
For his part, al-Nujaifi praised the visions of Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim about the relations between the political powers and the need to hold a meeting between the political parties and the movement’s leaders and the three presidents to draw up a road map for all the political, security and economic operations, considering the anti-terrorism and anti-extremism conference as the basis for a future relation in the political process and for involving all the active forces to fight the ISIS, stressing the need to apply the political agreement and legislate the national guard and popular crowd law, to protect the human rights during the contemplated military operations and to try to win the community over, for the ISIS is the enemy of everybody. He also added that there are big challenges, but the spirit is high and there is an historical opportunity to win within this positive political environment and the international support for Iraq to counter the ISIS.
