Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, received at his office in Baghdad on Thursday, December 25, 2014, Mr. Ali Larijani, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran and the accompanying delegation. During the common press conference following the meeting, his Eminence emphasized the importance of a shared responsibility between the peoples and governments of the region’s countries to expel and exterminate terrorism. He also said that he discussed with Mr. Larijani the global security and political situations and the common relationships between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iraq, explaining that given the economic situation the region has been going through and the situation in the world oil market, both countries must cooperate and work further to develop the economic and commercial reality between both countries.
For his part, Mr. Ali Larijani stated the Islamic Republic of Iraq will always support, with all its capacities and power, Iraq and its people to counter the terrorist gangs that are killing the Iraqi people, saying he was so happy for the love feelings and the developed relations between all the parties, the political leaders and the components of the Iraqi community, while appreciating the important role and the strategic vision of Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, and his outstanding role in this area, pointing out to the positive and big role al-Hakim family has played throughout the history of Iraq in all areas.
Mr. Ali Larijani stressed the need to promote, to ensure the viability of and to develop the cultural, social and economic relationships in the best interest of both neighbor countries and peoples.
Mr. Larijani was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Baghdad as well as a number of the members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran.
