Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, reiterated Iraq’s support for the Palestinian people in their defense for their violated rights, condemning the continuous Israeli transgressions against the Palestinian people, while emphasizing the love and brotherhood-based strong relationships between the Iraqi citizens and the Palestinian Diaspora in Iraq. On the other hand, he pointed out to the role of the religious authorities- since the marja Imam Mohsen al-Hakim until this date- in supporting and advocating the Palestinian cause since it is the Muslims’ central cause.
This came during a meeting between Sayyid al-Hakim and Mr. Ahmad Akl, ambassador of the Palestinian state in Iraq at his Eminence’s office in Baghdad on Sunday, December 28, 2014.
Both parties discussed the political and security developments in Iraq and the region and the situation all over the world, as well as the amicable relations between Iraq and Palestine.
For his part, the Palestinian ambassador praised the victories achieved by the Iraqi security forces and the popular crowd against the criminal ISIS gangs, making clear that, during the meeting, they discussed the Israeli violations against the Palestinian people and the problems facing the Palestinian Diaspora in Iraq.
