    In a Meeting with the Governor of Basra, al-Hakim Focuses On Serving Basra Citizens and Investing their Capabilities and Competences

     
    Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council in Iraq, stressed the need to better serve Basra citizens, calling for investing Basra capacities and resources to serve its citizens, showing as well the importance of getting in contact with people. His eminence appraised the local government's efforts in Basra province to serve it though no budget was approved last year and the current budget is negatively affected by the drop of oil prices.
    This came in a meeting between the governor of Basra, Dr. Majed Nasraoui, and his Eminence, in his office in Baghdad, on Sunday, January 19th, 2015.
    His Eminence said Basra and the productive provinces must get their share of the petrodollars, explaining that Basra suffers from serious environmental effects due to the extraction opensrati and is deprived of large areas of its land for they are not allowed to be used for other purpose than oil extraction.
     
    For his part, Nasraroui said he listened to his Eminence’s point of view about Basra, renewing his determination to offer the best services in order to achieve development in the smiling face of Iraq.
