During His Meeting with a Number of Scholarship Students, Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim Calls to Give Students their Entire Salaries as They are Iraq’s Academic Support

The head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim, called to give scholarship students their entire salaries without deductions. His eminence described these students as being the country’s academic support and affirmed that austerity should not include students, but rather the salaries of officials.
This came when his eminence was receiving a number of postgraduate students with scholarships to study abroad on Wednesday, March 4, 2015.
His eminence warned against the psychological repercussions of salary reduction on students who will be forced to return to their families, indicating that if the state is incapable of sending students abroad because of the financial distress, it ought to borrow money for them as they are the academic wealth of any country. His eminence expressed his hope that this measure will be reconsidered and that the salaries of students will be released in the regular manner, aligned with their life conditions abroad.
