Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim Says If Iraq Collapses, the Whole Region Will Too

Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, warned against the fragmentation and division of the Iraqi reality, saying the division of Iraq is rejected and abhorred and that if Iraq collapses, the whole region will too.
This came in a speech delivered by his Eminence at the Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdullah II School of International Studies in Amman on Monday, 23/3/2015.
His Eminence explained that the extremist thought may not be only addressed through security measures, yet it requires social, economic, developmental and service remedies, and most importantly, intellectual remedies, adding that the dialogue and the acceptance of the other are the ultimate solution for coexistence, and that the coexistence and the tolerance are the essence of the Islamic religion and the terrorist acts perpetrated in the name of Islam are not the true reflection of the original Islam, considering the sectarianism as affliction on the societies for taking pride in a rite or a sect can’t be a reason for bigotry and extremism.
