Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, received on Thursday, 26/3/3015 at his office in Baghdad the US ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Stuart Jones.
His Eminence expressed his pleasure and support for the kickoff of the second round of the “Labbaik Ya Rasulallah” battle to liberate Tikrit city, saying the first round of the battle which was waged with the participation of the security forces, the popular crowd and the Iraqi tribes had proved how deep the national cohesion against ISIS is, explaining that the first round produced important results and freed wide lands in no time, stressing the need to act at high levels of coordination between all parties so that we don’t have to liberate twice the land violated by ISIS.
Concerning the developments in Yemen, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim stated that there is political crisis in Yemen, feeling surprised about the prevailing of the language of war and bombarding over that of dialogue to find a way out of the crisis, adding that the support of the United States and some States for the military operations indicates doubles standards.
For his part, the US ambassador explained to his Eminence about the role and participation of the international coalition upon request of the Iraqi Prime Minister, saying that the international coalition in the first round didn’t participate in the first round for it hasn’t received any request by the government to do so.
