Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim Discusses with Usama al-Nujayfi Latest Security and Political Developments

Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, received al-Nujaifi in his office in Baghdad, on Thursday, April 16, 2015.
His Eminence discussed with al-Nujaifi, the latest security and political developments, stressing the need to face ISIS with more unity and nationality, reiterating his support and protection of the popular crowd for the sacrifices they have made to defend their country as their blood was mixed the blood of their fellow sons of the tribes in Tikrit, Diyala and all the areas liberated from ISIS. The popular crowd, he added, was an example of patriotism, recalling that they represent an official body that works under the Council of Ministers and fights using the state’s weapon; therefore, it can’t be described in any way as militia. His Eminence stressed the importance of settling the issue of positions managed by proxy.
Al-Hakim called to invest the international support for Iraq and the sympathy of the international community with Iraq in a way to preserve Iraq's sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-interference in its internal affairs, stating that Iraq does not defend itself, but defend the world because ISIS’s threat will reach the whole humanity.

His Eminence reiterated the importance of investing challenges and turning them into opportunities to come to a historic settlement that satisfies everybody. He also stressed the need that reconciliation projects replied to the four questions: with whom, how and under what limits these projects are led, and what are the guarantees? declaring that all national reconciliation projects will be mere slogans if these four questions are not answered.
