Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, highlighted that national and competent figures must be in charge of independent bodies such as the Political Prisoners Foundation, insisting that the Foundation officials should have acceptability and trust to ensure the Foundation’s success. His eminence showed his support to this good category in achieving justice and guaranteeing rights.
This came when Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim received a large number of political prisoners at his office in Baghdad on Monday, 20/4/2015.
His eminence indicated that the accomplishments and the environment of democracy and freedom that the Iraqis are enjoying are the result of the sacrifices of martyrs and political prisoners, the tears of widowers and orphans and mass graves. He added that the martyr of the niche (may Allah sanctify his soul) used to say that the Iraqi people is responsible for toppling the regime of Saddam by making it an isolated regime on the internal and external levels. He also praised the resistance, courage and patriotism shown by the political prisoners throughout their ordeal in prisons and after the fall of Saddam’s regime.
