Sayyid Al-Hakeem Visits Baghdad’s Schools: Students Are Nation-Building Foundation, Schools Shape Awareness, Develop Skills
On the occasion of the new academic year, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, visited several schools in Baghdad, where His Eminence met with teaching staff and students and observed the atmosphere of returning to classrooms. H.E. stressed that this moment marks a fresh milestone in the journey of building both individuals and society.
In his address during the visit, H.E. emphasized that Iraq’s development and progress can only be achieved by investing in future generations, urging students to embrace knowledge as their true weapon to face challenges and achieve comprehensive growth.
H.E. explained that schools are not merely centers of learning but spaces where cultures blend and collective awareness is formed on the basis of national and humanitarian values. H.E. noted that a healthy educational environment requires synergy between families and schools, where trust and ongoing cooperation between teachers and parents serve as the cornerstone of a successful educational process.
H.E. called for curricula that combine lessons from the past with visions of the future, teaching students how to think critically and make sound decisions, while transforming theoretical knowledge into practical life skills and enhancing their ability to meet challenges.
H.E. also underlined the importance of instilling love of country, self-confidence, freedom of expression, and a culture of teamwork to avoid individualism and authoritarian tendencies. H.E. noted that while collective work is often more demanding, it remains the most productive and effective, urging acceptance of differing opinions and respect for the majority within a democratic framework.
In the closing statement, H.E. affirmed that schools are not simply a means to progress from one academic stage to another, but rather a cornerstone in building upright individuals and a cohesive society. H.E. praised achievements in the education sector while renewing his call to support teachers by providing proper housing and land grants, and by ending the phenomenon of double-shift schools, thereby strengthening the teacher’s role and status in shaping future generations.
