Sayyid Al-Hakeem Meets Khadamat Alliance’s Delegation, Affirms Activating Parliamentary Role, Confront Economic, Security Challenges
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received in his Baghdad office on Tuesday evening, 20 January 2026, a delegation from the Parliamentary Khadamat Alliance led by Dr. Mohammed Jameel Al-Miyahi. The meeting focused on current developments in Iraq and the expected performance of the Council of Representatives in the coming period.
His Eminence stressed the need to strengthen the Council’s oversight and legislative functions, voicing confidence that the current parliamentary session would play an effective role in enhancing the legislative framework and promoting transparency. H.E. also underscored the importance of passing key legislation directly linked to completing the state’s institutional structure.
H.E. illustrated the security challenges along the Syrian border, commending the high level of preparedness of the security and military forces, and emphasizing the importance of maintaining caution and readiness in the face of any potential developments.
H.E. further explained the main challenges confronting Iraq, noting that economic issues remain the most pressing, and called for practical strategies and programs to boost the economy, stimulate productive sectors, and reduce dependence on the rentier-state model.
